What To Do - Police Are Knocking At Your Door

Do You Know Your Rights? Do You Know What To Do?

Your home is your castle, and it is respected and treated differently than when you are outside or in your car because of the privacy rights with your home.  As a result, Police will need a valid warrant to enter your home to either search or make an arrest.  However, you need to know that consensual conversations that the Police have with you are not considered a violation of your rights.  As a result, Police will often come to your door and do what they call a “knock and talk” to get around the warrant requirement and find evidence against you by engaging whoever comes and opens the door in conversation.  A lot of the times this exception will be successful for the police in building their case against you.

Watch this video to learn what to do when law enforcement knocks on your door.
