Jason S. English is an Austin, Texas attorney and former prosecutor who helps individuals and families protect what matters most—both now and in the future.
With decades of experience inside the criminal justice system, including years working directly with law enforcement and prosecutors, Jason understands how DWI and criminal cases are built—and more importantly, how to challenge them.
Today, he uses that experience to defend clients facing DWI and criminal charges across Travis County, Williamson County, and Central Texas—helping them protect their record, their license, and their future.
At the same time, Jason helps families plan ahead through thoughtful estate planning. Whether creating a will or a revocable living trust, his focus is on helping clients avoid probate, protect their assets, and make things as easy as possible for the people they care about most.
Rather than focusing only on documents, Jason's approach is centered on outcomes—guiding clients to make the right decisions so their family isn't left dealing with unnecessary stress, cost, or conflict down the road.
Whether you're dealing with a DWI arrest or planning for your family's future, the goal is the same—making smart decisions now to avoid bigger problems later.
Why These Practice Areas Work Together
Jason S. English's approach to estate planning is rooted in both personal experience and real-world courtroom insight.
He grew up around estate planning. His father was an attorney, and from an early age, Jason spent time in his father's law office seeing how wills and trusts were drafted—and more importantly, how estates were handled after someone passed away.
Early in his legal career, he worked alongside his father, drafting wills, probating estates, and helping build comprehensive estate plans for clients.
But his father also gave him advice that would shape the rest of his career: go to the District Attorney's Office, gain trial experience, and then return to this work with a different perspective.
Jason followed that path—spending years as a prosecutor and developing extensive courtroom and litigation experience. That experience proved invaluable—not just in criminal defense, but in understanding how legal documents actually hold up when they are tested.
What sets Jason apart is that he doesn't just draft documents—he understands how those documents perform when challenged.
Many estate plans are created by attorneys who have never seen what happens when things go wrong. They haven't been in the courtroom when a poorly drafted will is contested, when a missing document creates conflict, or when a family is left dealing with unintended consequences.
Jason has.
He has seen firsthand how quickly things can break down when planning is incomplete or unclear—situations where families believed everything was handled, only to face unnecessary stress, cost, and conflict.
That perspective informs everything he does today.
"So now you know the rest of the story..."
At Jason English Law in Austin, Texas, you'll notice something a little different. It's not just a DWI and criminal defense firm. It's not just an estate planning practice. It's not just a place to turn after a serious car wreck. It's all three—and there's a good reason for that.
You see, Jason didn't just decide to become a lawyer—he was raised into it. His father, R. Harold English, was a legendary attorney in Arlington, Texas. He was board certified in personal injury law, known for his commanding presence and a back-page ad in the Yellow Pages that nearly every Arlington household recognized. His belief? If you did someone's will, you became their lawyer for life. That meant building relationships, not just caseloads. So Harold practiced estate planning and personal injury—two areas that allowed him to serve real people, through both planning and crisis.
Jason grew up in that firm—literally. By the time he could walk, he was watching how his dad took care of clients. But Harold had another piece of advice for his son: go to the DA's office, learn how to try cases, let them train you—and then leave after two years and come back home to practice.
Jason followed that advice… halfway.
He got the job at the District Attorney's Office. But instead of leaving after two years, he stayed 15 years, becoming a seasoned trial attorney, handling everything from misdemeanors to high-stakes felonies. Eventually, he stepped away from prosecution—but not to slow down. He returned to what he knew with his dad: estate planning and personal injury work. But now, with deep courtroom experience, he also continues to fight for clients charged with DWI and other criminal offenses.
That's why Jason English Law focuses on three things:
🛑 DWI & Criminal Defense – Protecting futures in the face of serious charges
📜 Estate Planning – Helping families plan with confidence and avoid probate chaos
🚗 Car Wrecks & Injury Cases – Fighting for what's fair when life takes a wrong turn
Because this isn't just a practice. It's a legacy. Built on trust, trial skill, and taking care of people the way Harold English always believed you should.
And now—you know the rest of the story.
